Busy days. We began stripping the paint and started with the roof. Alanis and I used 2 electric dual sanders and 40-grit disks for this task. It is a slow process because I don't want to groove the metal. Plus, the original black, primer-like paint was very thick. I am still feeling back pain after a few days!
I am starting to feel acustomed to the garage; know where the tools are, where the parts go, gaining confidence...I am having the time of my life.
I noticed that the roof sheetmetal has very small pits. Is that normal?...
The rear side, where the rear windshield (the backlight) meets the roofline is in a bit of a poor shape. Here I had to grind a little, and I am considering doing some metal patching, especially if I am not installing a vinyl cover. That reminds me, there is a Father's day sale at Tractor Supply Co for a 120-amp MIG Fluxcore welder for only $99.99. I believe this is good for what I need it; just sheet metal welding....reviews are favorable (70% recommend).

For now we will continue stripping paint in order to have a clean surface onto which apply body filler. Maybe another week...
Today Friday 7th we removed the front and rear (backlight) windshields. As expected, rust in various spots around the backlight frame were evident. This is bad. I did not want to mess with any welding. Where will I find sheetmetal compatible with that in my Mustang?...

Yesterday I took advantage of a sale at CJ Ponyparts and bought the Upper stone guard cross panel that goes just below the grille. I only paid $20.00 for it. I broke the original when taking it appart. I hope the new part is of similar quality.
