Carlisle Ford Nationals

Last weekend I took the family to Carlisle for the annual All-Ford Nationals. It was a great show. For a Mustang newbie like me it was like going to Disney. I almost spent my daughter's college money on parts! (naah!).  But it was a great learning experience. I spent a good deal of money on replacement parts, and left another good deal of parts behind for lack of funds (read: wife did not authorize). I bought the tail light lenses, some bulbs, a lot of trim, interior components, etc... I saw a beautiful, recently rebuilt Autolite 4100 for sale, but the seller was asking $550.0 for it (well worth it). So I had to leave it behind. Someday...

The car exhibition was very strong on Shelbys, very weak on 67-78's. Is that a good sign about the value and rarity of my car? (I doubt it). I never saw so many Shelby's in one same place, both drivers and trailer queens. Maybe it was because of the recent passing of the Great Carroll Shelby the week before the show... There were less than 10 67/68 Mustangs in the entire show on Sunday. But my absolute show winner was a 1967 recently restored Branded Coupe that took my breath away. There was no Shelby, not Boss 302, that would make me spend more time and megapixels on a subject, than this car.

After I got home my plans for a quick respray went down the drain and I removed the fenders, quarter panel extensions, etc... and decided to spend extra money on new trim and plastic. I also budgeted for all new grille trim...

I had a great time at Carlisle. On October I will come alone or just with my daughter, park my car outside, and save some money for parts (yes I'm cheap!)...
