Introduction

I bough my 1967 Mustang Coupe on 2010, when

I came home on R&R Break from my second

Army Tour of duty in Iraq. The car's third owner,

had it parked in his garage for 5 years.

After I bought it, I got it started, filled up the

tires, bled the brakes, changed the oil,

lubed the car, and drove it home 100 miles away.

It drove well, but a bit hot. Later I had to replace

the water pump and fan clutch.
I was assigned to Tobyhanna Army Depot, PA

on October 2011 and brought the car with me.

When I picked it up at the New Jersey Transport

Facility in Edison I felt tempted to drive to nearby

Metuchen, where the car was born, but I decided

I didn't want to push my luck, and just drove

straight from Edison to Tobyhanna, a 2-hour drive.

The drive went without a hitch.
I drove it around town for a while, stored it for the

entire winter season, drove it around some more

on summer time and decided

it was time for a partial restoration.

I went to a couple of local bodyshops where

quotes always exceeded $10,000, just for

bodywork and paint on the outside, using the

same parts, and same nuts and bolts. So after

careful thought and research (parts, costs,

methods, etc.), I decided to do much of the work myself.

After careful consideration, I decided to farm out the

bodywork and paint, then I would reassemble the car.
